Intiman is proud to announce Deni Hirsh as our new Development Director. We sat down with her and learned why she moved to the PNW, who is her FAM, and her past experience. Her bio is below, and Deni can be reached at deni@intiman.org.

Intiman: What brought you to Seattle?
DH: My husband Ron and I honeymooned in Seattle 6 years ago. It was my first visit to the Pacific Northwest, and I LOVED it 😀! A year ago Ron’s company gave him an amazing opportunity to live wherever we wanted! So I had the idea for us to come up with separate lists of our top things about a city we would want to live in … my list: 1) Arts & culture, 2) strong nonprofit community, & 3) big city … Ron’s list: 1) Mountains & rivers, 2) strong manufacturing segment, & 3) big city … the ONLY city that fit both our lists: SEATTLE! And we LOVE it here!!!

Intiman: Tell us about your FAM?
DH: I have four great loves of my life (in order of appearance in my life): Alyssa (daughter, 30), Stephanie (daughter, 28), Tinkerbell (purebred Chihuahua, 14 … she loved Peter Pan, our other dog who passed away last year 😢), and Ron (still newlyweds!).

Intiman: How long have you worked in arts fundraising?
DH: I love combining my love of theatre and my passion for nonprofits, and I get to do that as Development Director for Intiman. Before moving to Seattle, I spent ten years as Development Director for GPAC, a nonprofit performing arts center outside of Memphis, and have worked in this field for about 30 years. I am so excited to be part of the IntiFAM, and I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of our Intiman supporters!

Intiman: You bring a history of working in theater to Intiman. Tell us more?
DH: My first love … well, maybe after my Mom … was theatre! I started dance lessons at two and was in my first play at five … first starring role at eight (Snow White in the 3rd grade school play), and it just went on from there. I have a BA in Theatre Arts from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX. I spent three years working as an actor in Los Angeles before returning to my hometown of Memphis, TN, where I performed in community theatre and hosted a public access TV show about nonprofit ‘happenings’ for several years.
